PM Modi inaugurates Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022 - India’s Biggest Drone Festival

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022- the biggest drone festival in India, on 27th May 2022 in Delhi. At the drone exhibition center, Prime Minister Modi interacted with several Kisan drone pilots and new-age startups. He also distributed 150 drone pilot certificates.
The event was also graced by the presence of several other dignitaries like Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar; Minister of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Shri Giriraj Singh; Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Jyotiraditya M.Scindia; Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw; Minister of Chemical and Fertiliser, Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and many other Ministers of States. Several leaders and entrepreneurs from the drone industry were also present on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi expressed his fascination and deep interest in the drone sector. He was impressed by the spirit of these entrepreneurs and the innovative mindset they’re investing in the drone sector. He also emphasized the fact that the drone sector shows great possibilities of becoming a sector of major employment generation.
Recalling the foundation of these efforts eight years back, Prime Minister Modi added, “This was the time eight years ago when we started implementing new mantras of good governance in India. Following the path of minimum government, and maximum governance, we have made ease of living, and ease of doing business a priority. We connected every citizen of the country with the facilities and welfare schemes by moving forward on the path of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas.”
The Prime Minister also threw light on the fact of how drone technology is boosting the idea behind PM Swamitva Yojana. Under this scheme, every village in the country will be digitally mapped and digital property cards will be provided to the people. He added, “Promotion of drone technology is another medium of advancing our commitment to good governance and ease of living. In the form of drones, we have got a smart tool that is going to be part and parcel of common people’s lives.”
The Prime Minister highlighted the key importance of drone technology in various fields such as defense, disaster management, tourism, agriculture, entertainment, films, etc. He also added that the use of drones is bound to increase in the future. He said that drone technology has the potential of empowering the lives of farmers and modernizing them.
In addition to development in the drone sector, Prime Minister Modi also praised the robust architecture of the UPI framework developed by our country, with the help of which, crores of rupees are being transferred daily to the bank accounts of poor people.
He recalled earlier times when technology was considered to be meant only for the elite class and said that the Government is making technology available for the masses. He added that a few months back, there were numerous restrictions on the use of drones, but the government’s efforts ensured that all of them were removed.
In concluding remarks, he highlighted that India is moving towards creating a strong drone manufacturing ecosystem through various schemes. He said, “When technology goes to the masses, possibilities of its use also increase accordingly”.
