The Republic Day parade on the Rajpath this year saw the ''grandest and largest'' flypast ever with a total of 75 aircrafts to mark the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
The flypast began with the "Dhwaj" formation with four Mi-17 aircraft, followed by the "Rudra" and the "Rahat" formations with four and five Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) respectively.
The flypast concluded with seventeen Jaguar fighter aircraft flying in the ''Amrit'' formation to commemorate the 75 years of Independence.
The flypast commeorated the 1971 war with the inclusion of the Tangail formation which had one Dakota and two Dornier flying as a tribute to the Tangail airdrop operations. There was also the Meghna formation of 1 Chinook and four Mi-17s. The Rafale aircrafts were be part of the Vinaash, Baaz and Vijay formations.
