At present 100 Clusters are existing in the State in Handloom, Handicrafts & Sericulture sectors (Handloom-61, Handicrafts 19, and Sericulture-21). The Directorate has planned the formation of more Handloom & Handicrafts Clusters to provide working opportunities to the weavers & artisans of the State. The Directorate of HHS shall form 3 (three) clusters in Handloom & Handicrafts sector in each year in the weavers/artisans concentrated areas & for which baseline survey will be conducted as per guidelines of the Government of India. As a part of the celebration of 50 years of Azadai Ka Amrit Mohotsob & 50th Statehood Day, the Directorate of Handloom Handicrafts & Sericulture has formed a new handloom cluster at Silachari under Silachari R.D Block, Gomoti District. The cluster was inaugurated by Sri. Balai Ghoswami Honorable Chairman of Tripura Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. in presence of Sri. Ashim Tripura Honorable Chairman Silachari R.D Block & other dignitaries.So that the Directorate may be tie up projects & schemes of Govt. of India for implementation for the betterment of the weavers & artisans of the State.
