Giri Raj Singh was born in 1916 in Delhi. His father’s name was Chhajju Singh. He participated in the Civil Disobedience Movement of 1931. On 21 August 1930, he was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. During this period he was kept in the Central Jail, Delhi. On 29 August 1930, he was transferred to the Borstal Institute, Lahore. In 1937, Giri Raj was sentenced to 42 days’ imprisonment.
